Heiner Biedermann
Photographs Volume 1. 1969–2006

Heiner Biedermann born in 1952 in Germany, from a father who such as him combined medicine/surgery and amateur photography. Heiner inherited a darkroom his father had installed in the basement of their new house in the 1960s. This was the start of Biedermann’s extensive voyage on the photography-trail.

Decades of commuting to diverse hospital jobs in Germany meant darkrooms were built and installed wherever Heiner moved to – in disused bathrooms, cellars rooms or annexes. Medicine also took him many distant places; practising accident surgery in various Third World countries. Or China, to gain a deeper knowledge of Acupuncture.

Observations From the Margin

As a child, Elisabeth was diagnosed with various developmental disorders, including autism. Hearing difficulties affected her speech and made verbal interaction difficult. Communicating through means of drawings and basic text compositions soon became her preferred way of connecting with her environment. She also began taking photographs, apparently purely to satisfy her own curiosity and for her own enjoyment.
